Helping families in the rural communities around San Miguel de Allende
We are David and Melisa, a married couple who have made our home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Through Urban Angels, we work directly with families and children in the communities around us, helping with their education and health care, week after week.

What we are doing now
Please consider supporting our work. A monthly gift lets us help more families all year long.
English class

Our English class in the rural community of Alonso Yañez is in its third year. Our team teaches, prepares materials, and builds a curriculum around what each particular student needs based on their age and life goals. We also help the community improve the public building where the class meets, and supplies materials and furniture to the three schools in the pueblo.
Medical care for children

Many families here can’t afford medicine, lab tests, or visits to doctors and dentists. We cover those costs and often drive families to their appointments ourselves. Here are a few of the children you’re helping. Their names are left out to protect their privacy.
- A 9-year-old boy with muscular dystrophy. We pay for his lab work, medications, and regular visits to a neurologist and cardiologist. We also help with physical therapy, which means long drives from his village. His needs will grow as the disease progresses.
- A 17-year-old girl with severe disabilities. She uses a wheelchair and cannot speak. We drive her and her mother to her appointments, and we arranged a second opinion with a private neurologist to make sure her care is right. Your gifts also help with diapers and food. The meals we share in their home let us encourage her sisters in school.
- A 4-year-old with epilepsy. We provide care for his condition that his family could not otherwise afford.
- Two brothers, ages 5 and 7, who have trouble walking. We provide visits to a radiologist, an orthopedist, and a physical therapist, along with proper shoes and general and dental care. Melisa works closely with their mother on their daily exercises.
- An 11-year-old boy who was arriving at school hungry. We started by paying for his school lunches. Now we’re also helping his family get support for his learning disabilities.
These are just a few of the families we serve in and around San Miguel. Your support means a great deal to us.
A monthly gift keeps care going
Medicine, lab tests, and therapy don’t stop. A monthly gift of any amount lets us plan visits and care for families all year long.
Who we are
Urban Angels is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 2015 to support children’s education in Mexico and Peru. When we begin working with a community, we first help with basic needs: food, clothing, and health care. Then, through after-school programs, we teach English, community leadership, and emotional development to secondary students.
