Trip 6: San José a la Caja

On June 6, 2020, with the help of a couple of large trucks (along with my trusty old Acura RDX), we made our way out to the very remote and virtually unknown town of San José a la Caja. The town depends on rain for its water, which has been terribly scarce lately. A water truck also made its way up that difficult, rocky road to deliver water on the same day we were there, and we watched horse-drawn carts pull up to fill each family’s water barrel. We helped 61 families with 930 kilos of food: the regular rice, beans, lentils, corn, salt, and cooking oil.
